The Mother of Cities. A city of a thousand spires, reflected in the Vltava and shaped by centuries of memory.

Prague in Light

Prague, Czech
Prague in Light

Prague is a city that reveals itself slowly.
In daylight, its red rooftops climb towards the towers of the Old Town, the spires of the Týn Church rise above the maze of streets, and Prague Castle watches over the city from across the Vltava river.
After dark, everything changes. The familiar outlines soften, windows begin to glow, bridges and towers emerge from the shadows, and the river carries their reflections through the night.

For centuries, Prague has been called the Mother of Cities and the City of a Thousand Spires. Both names seem fitting. Its beauty is not contained in a single monument, but in countless details, roofs and domes, narrow streets, stone façades, the quiet surface of the Vltava and the silhouette of the castle high above it all.

And then there is music.
Inside the Rudolfinum, the Dvořák Hall adds another dimension to the city: Prague not only as something to be seen, but also heard and felt.

These photographs capture only fragments - a roof, a tower, a river, a concert hall, a city by day and by night.
But perhaps Prague has always been best understood in fragments.

A city of stone, water, light and memory.
My city.
